Reining Heroes is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It is a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH), Intl. program that provides Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) for clients of all ages with special needs, such as physical, emotional, developmental disabilities, and including on the autism spectrum.
The instructor, Paula Quillen, has over 40 years experience training and teaching horsemanship and over 15 years experience as a PATH Certified-Therapeutic Riding Instructor for EAAT.
Lessons are individually designed and conducted based on the needs and capabilities of the client. Paula involves the caregivers in the planning and implementation of each lesson, and includes the client in the decision-making process. This provides instant communication and feedback during the course of a lesson. Lessons are held in a safe, welcoming, friendly, non-judgemental environment that promotes activity, rather than passivity.
